On the shoulders of Giants.

The South African Boat Builders Export Council (SABBEX) held its annual awards ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa on the 31 May 2023.

What an event it turned out to be with well over 300 of the South African Boat Builders being in attendance.

The theme for the evening was “On the shoulders of Giants” which epitomised this celebration of the industry as a whole, from those having just become part of the industry and showing great promise, through to the stalwarts of the boatyards all of whom richly deserved their accolades in this dynamic and challenging market sector.

A huge thank you goes out to the SABBEX and the Boatica team (Cape town Boat Show event organizers) for all the long hours that made this gala event possible.

The Boatshed New Build Boat Division is particularly proud to have had two of our yards, HopYacht30 and Invicta 30 Power Catamaran, nominated for awards.

As it turned out, Paul and Mary-Clare Tomes of HopYacht were awarded the laurels by Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member Alderman James Vos in the “Excellence in Sustainability” Category for their all-electric sailing catamaran.
